Highland Distillers Screening Shops

NEW YORK — Executives from Highland Distillers held credentials meetings with six U.S. agencies and six U.K. agencies within the past two weeks to discuss handling its Macallan scotch-whiskey brand, the client confirmed.

“We are looking for agencies on both sides of the Atlantic to find a shop to deliver a world class campaign for the brand,” said Ken Grier, brand director on Macallan’s for the Perth, Scotland client.

He declined to name the agencies being considered. AMV BBDO in London is the incumbent on the account and also handles Highland’s Famous Grouse whiskey, which is unaffected. Grier declined to comment on whether AMV BBDO was participating. Media duties, handled in the U.S. by Mediaedge:cia, and various shops overseas, is also unaffected, Grier said.

Grier said he expects to narrow to 3-5 finalists total by the end of this month. AAR Partners is the New York consultancy managing the process.
