Harris Opts to Stay at Marketing Drive

LOS ANGELES Interpublic Group’s Foote, Cone & Belding is once again searching for a president for its Southern California office, an agency representative confirmed.

The shop had named Marketing Drive Worldwide president Michael Harris to the position [Adweek.com, June 12]. Harris was expected to move from the Boston IPG shop to FCB in Irvine, Calif., in September.

“He had some serious family issues that are frankly more important,” said FCB representative Bill Haney. “Gene Bartley [chief operating officer of FCB North America] and I discussed this, and we respect it. Family comes first.”

Harris will remain in the presidency role at Marketing Drive, Haney said. Harris could not immediately be reached for comment.

Jim Harrington, who had been president of FCB in Irvine, will work on special projects for FCB Worldwide chief executive officer Brendan Ryan and Bartley, as planned, Haney said.

Until a new president is hired for FCB in Irvine, FCB North America chief financial officer Neil Miller will oversee the office, said Haney.
