CHICAGO Goodyear Tire & Rubber has begun an evaluation of its U.S. marketing business, and sources said the process would include a review of the client’s creative and media assignments.

Incumbents Arnold in Boston (creative) and Media Planning Group in New York (media planning and buying) have been invited to defend, but have not decided if they would participate, according to an agency representative. Both shops are owned by Paris-based Havas.

A Goodyear rep offered this statement: “Over the past several years, Goodyear has evolved from a manufacturing-focused company into a company that can market as well.
