Forecast: Geotargeted Display Ads Poised for Growth

Geotargeted display ads will more than double over the next five years. According to a BIA/Kelsey forecast, the segment will grow $897 million in 2008 to $1.9 billion in 2013, representing a compound annual growth rate of 16 percent.

The segment will also make up a greater percent of the total ad market, growing from 10.2 percent in 2008 to 15 percent by 2013.

Ads purchased locally by small and medium-sized businesses will grow the fastest. Expected to reach 30 percent of the total segment, locally purchased banner ads will increase at a compound annual growth rate of 66 percent, from $45 million in 2008 to $565 million in 2013.
