FCB Installs Cimino as ECD in Irvine

LOS ANGELES Foote, Cone & Belding has named Bill Cimino executive creative director of its Southern California office, the shop said.

Cimino, 42, joins the Irvine, Calif., agency from DDB Chicago, where he spent the last 10 years, most recently as vice president, creative director.

Holland Henton has held the ECD role at FCB. Henton joined the agency last year from McCann-Erickson in New York. Henton has left FCB, an agency representative said.

Cimino’s work has included the “Great American Heroes” campaign for Bud Light. He also worked with clients such as McDonald’s, Frito-Lay, Discover Card, SC Johnson and General Mills. Prior to DDB, Cimino was a copywriter at Ogilvy & Mather.

“Among Bill’s strengths is his knack for getting inside the heads and hearts of target consumers with irreverent, gently sarcastic humor,” said Jonathan Harries, FCB Worldwide ECD, in a statement.

The move follows other attempts by FCB to strengthen its creative ranks. The agency recently named Michael Prieve ECD in San Francisco and Tom O’Keefe ECD in Chicago.

This is also the second senior-level staff change at FCB here within the last month. In June, the shop named Michael Harris president of the Irvine office. Harris is taking over for Jim Harrington, who was reassigned to work on projects for FCB Worldwide chief executive officer Brendan Ryan and Gene Bartley, chief operating officer of FCB North America [Adweek, June 13].
