LOS ANGELES Marissa Thompson’s first assignment as senior vice president, group account director at Deutsch/LA will be the $120 million DirecTV account, a piece of business handled by her former employer—BBDO in New York.

DirecTV moved to Deutsch’s Marina del Rey, Calif., office in February from Omnicom Group’s BBDO without a review.

Thompson did not work on that business during her tenure at BBDO as a svp, senior account director; her key accounts were Gillette and Office Depot. Prior to that, she worked at Omnicom’s DDB in New York as a group account director.

In addition, Interpublic Group’s Deutsch has promoted media director Kyle Acquistapace to executive vice president; he had previously been a svp. He works on TGI Friday’s, Expedia and CiCi’s Pizza.

In a statement, Mike Sheldon, president of Deutsch/LA, praised the “proven leadership abilities” of both executives.

DirecTV was the second notable client to rehire to Deutsch this year following Ikea’s decision in Janurary to return its estimated $60 million account to the agency.
