An Exclusive Look Inside Match’s Romance-Inspiring Headquarters

Match is IAC’s flagship dating site and leading brand of the company’s Personals division, which also includes OkCupid and dating app du jour Tinder. And with over 6 million monthly visitors, Match is the largest dating site in the world. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the 20-year-old venue’s real-life space would be headquartered in Texas where, as the saying goes, everything is bigger. When guests enter the Dallas office they are met with high ceilings, a grand staircase and are immediately inundated with romance that in any other setting would be saccharine. “We try to honor all things love in our lobby,” said vp of human resources Lisa Nelson. “You’ll hear some of our favorite love ballads when you walk in the doors. We show classic black-and-white movies like Casablanca and Holiday on the screens—as well as our latest TV campaigns—and have some of our favorite love-related reading material to check out while you are waiting.”

Mood Setting

Match’s TV spots and classic romantic movies play on the screens.

Work Mood

The office’s 350 employees can use standing workstations and Ikea shades to shield them from the reality of a modern office: fluorescent lighting.

Staff Surveys

Every month, Match asks different questions—What did you want to be when you grew up? What motivates you?—on a chalkboard wall to engage employees.

Down Time

The common space is used for everything from Match’s 20th anniversary celebration to recruiting events.

Wall of Love

A hallway lined with dispatches from satisfied customers—baby announcements, wedding invitations, photos of happy couples—serves to remind employees that the work they do really does matter.
