ESPN Unveils 'Jimmy V' Initiative

NEW YORK ESPN is helping to launch a national fundraiser designed to enlist sports fans in the fight against cancer.

The first national “Show Your Spirit Day!” is set for Sept. 7. Individuals and groups are being asked to donate apparel of their favorite teams and make a financial contribution (minimum $5 per person) to benefit The V Foundation for Cancer Research, which was founded in 1993 by ESPN and Jim Valvano, collegiate basketball coach and commentator, who passed away from cancer in April of that year.
