Erwin-Penland Installs Mendelsohn as ECD

ATLANTA Andy Mendelsohn has joined Erwin-Penland in the newly created position of executive creative director, the agency said.

Mendelsohn will supervise the Greenville, S.C., Interpublic Group shop’s 42-person creative department and join the agency’s senior management team as vice president. Mark Bazil, the shop’s creative director since 2000, will remain in his current role.

Previously, Mendelsohn was senior vice president and executive creative director at Henderson Advertising, an independent Greenville shop. Before moving to South Carolina in 2000, he was creative director at Warwick Advertising in New York on the Heineken, Amstel Light, Fruit of the Loom, Lexmark and Knorr accounts. He also was an associate creative director at Saatchi & Saatchi.

“Andy is one of the most talented and respected creative directors in the country, let alone the Southeast,” said Joe Erwin, the agency’s president. “We conducted an exhaustive search for the right person to help propel our work to the next level and we’re extremely fortunate the guy at the top of our list was right here in our backyard.”

Erwin-Penland was acquired by Boston-based IPG shop Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos last year.
