DraftFCB Appoints Chief Data Officer

CHICAGO Interpublic Group’s DraftFCB has promoted Michael Fassnacht to chief customer intelligence officer, overseeing strategy and management of data and customer insight for all of the global agency’s offices.

“Customer data and analytics today are the cornerstones of successful marketing programs around the world and Michael Fassnacht is renowned for his work in this area,” said Laurence Boschetto, the agency’s worldwide president and chief operating officer, in a statement. “He is the consummate data guru, whose knowledge, understanding and innovation in the use of customer data has made him an industry expert.”

Fassnacht was previously director of customer intelligence for DraftFCB’s Chicago office, a position he will retain along with his global duties. In his new position, Fassnacht will report to Boschetto on global and corporate functions and to DraftFCB’s Chicago president Mark Modesto on local market matters.

In the new position, Fassnacht will work to expand the agency’s customer data practices in markets such as China, India, Europe and Brazil. He will also work closely with the agency’s planning and media departments to help interpret and employ the data.

Additionally, Anil Kapoor, who had been the agency’s regional president with responsibility for India, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Malaysia, has been given additional responsibilities for the entire Asia-Pacific region, with the exception of China. Kapoor will also oversee the agency’s Africa operations as well.

For the new post, Kapoor takes over duties previously handled by David Florence, who had been overseeing Africa, Australia and New Zealand. He will retain oversight of Europe, Middle East and Canada, and Rafael deGuzman, who had overseen Japan and Korea, will continue to handle Latin America.

Mark Pacchini, president of global accounts, will continue to oversee DraftFCB’s operations in China.
