Digitas Gets Hooked

Interactive buying service HookMedia last week continued its aggressive bid for expansion, naming Digitas senior vice president and media director Michael Comins to a management position at the startup.
In an unrelated move, Digitas hired Pinchas Ben-Or as senior vice president and managing director of measurement and analysis, a new post. He had been with Time Inc. in New York as executive director of marketing information. At Digitas, Ben-Or will oversee worldwide measurement, analysis, segmentation, targeting and related projects.
Comins, who starts with HookMedia in Boston on June 26, will serve as senior vice president and director of media services. Digitas has no immediate plan to replace Comins, said Maureen Bailey, the Boston agency’s director of communications. “He wants to be somewhere that feels more like a startup,” Bailey said. “We wish him well.”
A spokesperson for HookMedia declined comment be-cause Comins has yet to officially join the shop.
HookMedia, which spun out of Pro Media, Natick, Mass., several months ago, has been on a hiring spree of late. The shop named two principals to its media services group: Laura Mete Frizzell, formerly with Deutsch, New York, and Barry Lowenthal, former partner and media director at Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners, New York [Adweek, May 29]. Other recent senior-level hires include senior vice president Rex Green and VPs Lorrey Bianchi and Alan Klein.
Clients include Allaire Corp., EMC Corp., Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Massachusetts and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. K
