CHICAGO — After flirting with non-roster shop Ogilvy & Mather, McDonald’s has chosen lead agency DDB Chicago to handle advertising for its fledgling “Diner Inside” concept, the company said.

Roster shops Leo Burnett, Chicago, and Arnold in Boston were invited to the pitch, along with DDB and Ogilvy Chicago, which previously has not worked for the Oak Brook, Ill., chain.

The first Diner Inside store opened in March 2001 in Kokomo, Ind., offering such traditional diner fare as meat loaf and mashed potatoes.
