Casino Magic Makes Local Pick

Biloxi’s Ad Group Tops Bigger Competition
NEW ORLEANS–The Ad Group of Biloxi, Miss., beat out three larger agencies last week to win the $3 million Casino Magic account.
The Ad Group was named agency of record two weeks after making presentations alongside incumbent Zimmerman Laurent & Richardson of Des Moines, Iowa; Godwin Group of Jackson, Miss.; and Lewis Communications of Mobile, Ala.
“The Ad Group was selected because they are a small, local shop, and we felt they would give us good service because we will be their largest and most important account,” said Linn Lofton, public relations manager of Casino Magic in Biloxi. “They showed good creative and a lot of eagerness and enthusiasm, plus they are familiar with the gaming industry.”
Ad Group principal Laura Hasty handled the Casino Magic account as an account executive for Gray Advertising of Pascagoula, Miss., when the facility first opened.
The Ad Group will keep its Boomtown Casino account–both Magic and Boomtown are now owned by Hollywood Park –but will resign its business with the President Casino. Billings on that account are less than $500,000.
Hasty said the Casino Magic account, which will increase her shop’s billings by about one-third, will require more personnel. Two graphic artists have been added to a staff of nine. Three more employees are likely to be hired, she said.
The 12-month contract with Casino Magic is renewable annually for up to three years.
The account includes print, television, radio and outdoor media.
