Bushnell at Brothers, Sodak at Jordan

DALLAS Brothers & Co. has been awarded the advertising account of Bushnell Performance Optics, a manufacturer and marketer of branded consumer products, the shop said.

The Tulsa, Okla., agency won the account in a review against undisclosed competitors, according to shop president Paul Brothers. Campbell Lacoste of Madison, Wis., previously represented Bushnell. The former incumbent did not participate in the review, the client said.

“The diversity of our brands and the markets we serve require that we ask for a lot, and expect a lot from a marketing agency,” said Phil Gyori, Bushnell’s vice president of marketing. “Brothers and Co. effectively demonstrated their knowledge of our business and our customers.”

Brothers has been charged with the development and implementation of advertising creative, media planning and brand strategy for both its Bushnell and Tasco brands.

The first campaign is set to launch this fall and will include TV, consumer and trade print ads, collateral and promotional materials.

Based in Overland Park, Kan., BPO supplies sports optics including binoculars, telescopes, spotting scopes, riflescopes, night vision systems, laser rangefinders, outdoor cameras and sunglasses.

Separately, Jordan Associates has picked up marketing communications duties for Sodak Gaming, a division of IGT, one of the largest distributors of gaming equipment to Native American casinos in the U.S., the shop said.

The Oklahoma City agency was awarded the Las Vegas-based account without a review, according to a shop representative. Since Sodak’s Oklahoma jurisdiction is newly developed, there was no previous incumbent.

“Currently there are more than 80 tribal gaming facilities with more than 20,500 games in Oklahoma,” said Mike Wilkinson, Jordan’s vice president of business development. “As the gaming industry continues to grow in Oklahoma and across the country, we’re pleased to be representing Sodak.”

Advertising and public relations support are scheduled to begin in the second quarter.

Billings for Bushnell and Sodak Gaming are undisclosed.
