Bruce Rises at BBDO

NEW YORK BBDO said it has promoted longtime executive creative director Bill Bruce, who has created campaigns for Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist and Aquafina to creative director of its flagship New York office.

In his new role, Bruce, 44, will head up a department of 250 employees.

The move will enable North American chairman and chief creative officer David Lubars to help oversee the creative product coming out of the Omnicom Group agency’s other offices like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis and Atlanta.

Bruce continues to report to Lubars, 46.

In a statement, Lubars, who joined BBDO just over a year ago from Publicis Groupe’s Fallon in Minneapolis, said, “With our drastically increasing client roster and all that we have going on in New York, I need a partner to share stuff with. Bill will team with me to keep driving BBDO towards its goal of being the best creative agency in New York and beyond.”

The agency has won upwards of $1 billion in new business this year with Mitsubishi, E*Trade, Lowe’s, Bank of America, Levitra, eBay and Motorola Rokr.

Bruce started at BBDO 19 years ago as a junior creative in the agency’s Detroit office.

The agency’s client roster includes DaimlerChrysler, FedEx, Frito-Lay, Pizza Hut, Pfizer, HBO, Guinness and Visa.
