CHICAGO In what appears to be the first sign of major changes in its North American operations, SABMiller said today that John Bowlin, president and chief executive officer of Miller Brewing Co., is resigning.

The former Kraft executive who joined Miller in April 1999 has been credited for revamping Miller’s advertising department to reposition the brewer’s Miller Lite and Miller Genuine Draft brands. Bowlin’s resignation could signal additional executive moves at the Milwaukee brewery that could impact the marketing department, sources said.
