BOSTON Independent interactive agency BigBad said it has been hired by the New England Foundation for the Arts to develop an online cultural community and marketplace that serves local artists, venues and patrons.

The Boston-based shop said the engagement includes brand identity development, user-interface and database design, as well as technical implementation.

The new assignment builds on BigBad’s efforts for the Massachusetts Cultural Council in designing and developing that group’s Web-based grants management application.

“BigBad’s reputation in the nonprofit and foundation marketplace with large complex projects is growing rapidly as word spreads about the results we are getting for our clients,” said Ty Glasgow, agency CEO and president.
