Bernstein-Rein Lands Mortgage Biz

CHICAGO Thornburg Mortgage awarded its $2 million marketing account to Bernstein-Rein Brand Relationship Group.

The Kansas City, Mo., agency will use a variety of marketing tools, from direct to interactive, to help the client become one of the country’s top 50 mortgage companies, said Rich Gabe, executive director of the brand relationship group.

“They have some differences in their products,” Gabe said, adding that Thornburg ranks about 75th among mortgage companies.

One major point of difference likely to be stressed is the company’s policy to maintain ownership of the loans through the life of the mortgage, Gabe said. “They look at the lifetime value of a customer,” he said.

The first work is expected in early February, Gabe said.

The account was previously at an undisclosed New York agency and was awarded without a review. The brand relationship group is a division of Bernstein-Rein Advertising.

The Santa Fe, N.M.-based company is a residential mortgage lender with $10.4 billion in assets.
