BBDO Enlists Senior Account Director

NEW YORK BBDO said it has hired Kirsten Flanik as a senior account director on its Mars business, effective immediately.

She will oversee efforts on brands such as M&Ms, Milky Way and Snickers Marathon. The client spends $90 million annually to advertise those brands, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

Flanik takes over from Rob Rawley, a senior account director, who continues to run the New York agency’s Diageo business (it handled the Guinness and Red Stripe brands). Rawley also adds the HBO account and other projects to his responsibilities.

Flanik, 39, was most recently business development director at the New York office of Bartle Bogle Hegarty, which is 49-percent owned by Publicis Groupe.

She now reports to BBDO’s New York president and CEO John Osborn, who said in a statement that Flanik’s “exceptional experience at BBH helping to lead and devise creative solutions that cut across all media, audiences and geographies makes her an outstanding addition to BBDO and an ideal fit for our clients.”

Before joining BBH in 2002, Flanik was a vp, group account director at Cliff Freeman and Partners in New York, working on Mohegan Sun and Quiznos.

“No other agency is experiencing as dramatic an evolution as BBDO,” Flanik said. “That is something I couldn’t resist being a part of. The possibilities to grow and contribute seem endless.”

BBDO in New York is the flagship of the 287-office network owned by Omnicom Group.
