Atlantans Remain In $150 Mil. Review For Glaxo’s Media

The $150 million media-only review of Glaxo-Wellcome in Research Triangle Park, N.C., is down to three finalists, sources confirmed last week.
Agencies vying for the business, which includes media planning and buying, are incumbent The Media Edge and Optimum Media, both New York, and the Atlanta office of Western Initiative Media Worldwide.
The client is expected to travel to meet with the three contenders this week to hear final presentations. A decision is expected before the end of this month.
The media business was placed into review late last year [Adweek, Dec. 14, 1998]. At that time, the client said the review was motivated by a desire to consolidate accounts and realize greater consistencies. –Jim Osterman and Andrew McMains
