Arnold uses the trademark silly humor of actor John Cleese in a national campaign introducing Titleist’s NXT golf balls.
Cleese portrays Ian MacCallister, a raving, Scottish-brogued loudmouth who claims to be a golf-course architect and the founder of Golf Designers Against Distance.
The first 30-second spot was slated to debut over the weekend on ESPN’s coverage of the PGA’s Texas Open, with other executions rolling out in the next few months. All told, about a half-dozen spots are planned.
Although she declined to discuss budget figures, Mary Lou Bohn, vp of advertising and communications at Titleist, said the company will spend approximately 10-15 percent of its 2001 media budget on the NXT.
