NEVADA Reno-based advertising and marketing agency Mark Curtis has added two new clients: SilverStar Development in San Diego and the Reno Gazette-Journal. Thomas Puckett Marketing and Public Relations in Las Vegas has been retained by Nevada Power Co. as advertising agency of record. Trahan, Burden & Charles Advertising in Reno has been selected by Horizon USA to develop an ad campaign promoting its line of computer accessories. The agency recently completed a campaign for The Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority. NORTHERN CALIFORNIA Ameristar Casinos has selected Goldberg Moser O'Neill in San Francisco for an advertising assignment. Billings are estimated at $5 million. Glenn Valley Homes and Walrus Golf have both selected I.D. Advertising in Palo Alto as their agency of record to develop corporate identity and handle print, collateral and promotional video duties. Hayes Marketing Communications in San Jose has added three new accounts to its roster: Ikos Systems, Argonaut Technologies and Galvantech. Following a review, TeraStor Corp. has named Hodskins Simone & Searls in San Jose its new ad agency. Sunnyvale-based bike company VooDoo Cycles has hired Wolfe/Doyle Advertising in San Francisco to create a new image campaign. Full-service communications agency The Delaney Group in Alameda has added Alaris in Fremont to its list of technology clients. The Herhily Marketing Group in Oakland has added Clarify to its stable of high-tech clients. Clarify is a Silicon Valley-based maker of software solutions designed to integrate front office, help desk and sales functions. OREGON Prideaux Swearingen Advertising and Public Relations in Portland produced a two-page travel ad for American Express' Latin America & Caribbean division. The ad ran in the December issue of Delta Sky Magazine, Delta Air Lines' in-flight publication. TriAd in Bend recently completed production on a TV commercial for the holiday season promoting Big R stores. The ad ran in the Bend/Redmond and Lamath Falls markets. Portland-based Koopman Ostbo Marketing Communications recently completed a new corporate identity package for Mortgage Market of Lake Oswego. RalstonGroup in Bend has launched a Web services and new media division. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Hispanic marketing firm Oralia Michel Marketing & Public Relations has added the J. Paul Getty Trust to its client roster. The Pasadena agency will provide ethnic market public relations and marketing services. Holland Marketing in Tustin has changed its name to Nine Dots Corp. The new name is derived from a classic brainteaser. The Designory in Long Beach recently picked up the collateral communications business for Home Savings of America's consumer and business banking products. Shereshevsky Advertising of Glendale has begun designing and producing a series of print ads for shoe retailer Industrial Shoe Warehouse. The Bohle Company in Los Angeles has been assigned public relations work for three technology clients: Globalink, EIS Computers and CarQwik. Oster & Associates in San Diego has been retained by Bonagra Technologies and Services, Bakersfield, and Gowan Company, Yuma, Ariz., to handle public relations. Novocom of Playa Vista has developed and produced the news graphic package for Pittsburgh's WPXI-TV. Smith Public Relations, a Century City-based marketing communications firm, has been selected to implement public relations projects or programs for Warner Music Group, EMI-Capitol Entertainment Properties, Nature's Recipe Pet Foods, Fidelity Federal Bank, Hilco/Great American Group, ZAND Herbal Products, Digital Thunder, Exclusive Toy Products, Topkat, Imperial Toy Corporation, UWI Com and Valdƒs Zacky & Associates. The Blaze Company, a full-service marketing communications and public relations firm in Venice, has added five new clients: Tomy America, University of Southern California, Peet's Coffee and Tea and the 18th annual Napa Valley Wine Auction. The Grove Agency in San Diego has been retained by Recon, a San Diego-based environmental consulting firm, to develop and implement a public relations and advertising program. The city of Culver City has selected TM Arts, also in Culver City, to develop a print and outdoor campaign promoting its redevelopment agency. Spear/Hall & Associates in San Diego has been retained by Bob Costello, president of Premier Real Estate Services, and Ingleside Inn of Palm Springs. RiechesBaird Advertising in Huntington Beach has been selected by Opto 22, a supplier of PC-based I/O systems, to handle its advertising. Fuse in Laguna Beach has been selected to handle new projects by Hewlett-Packard, Cupertino, and Jafra Cosmetics International, Westlake Village. Citizens Business Bank has selected Uber Advertising & Public Relations in Upland as its ad agency. Quantum Communications in San Marcos has been selected by the Richard Shalhoub Co., a local McDonald's group, to create promotions for 10 McDonald's restaurants in the Coachella Valley and Riverside. The Southern California Cooperative for Sylvan Learning Center has selected Laguna Hills-based MBA Media Group to handle its $1.5 million advertising buying assignment for 1998. UTAH The state of Utah's division of business and economic development has chosen Scopes-Garcia-Carlisle in Salt Lake City to develop and oversee a national marketing campaign beginning this year for its national business development program. WASHINGTON Tacoma Public Utilities has hired the team of JayRay Ads & PR and The Leonhardt Group, both in Seattle, to handle branding, advertising and public relations. CF2GS in Seattle has landed a pair Northwest-based clients: the $5 million AirTouch Cellular account and AAA of Washington. Billings for AAA were undisclosed.
