4 Remain in $60-80 Mil. Lipitor Review

NEW YORK Interpublic Group’s Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos has been eliminated from Pfizer’s Lipitor review, leaving four contenders vying for creative chores on the $60-80 million account, sources said.

Hill, Holliday’s New York office was among those that pitched creative concepts to client executives in early August. The others were WPP Group’s JWT, Publicis Groupe’s The Kaplan Thaler Group, independent mcgarrybowen and the incumbent, Omnicom Group’s Merkley + Partners, all in New York, according to sources.

The agencies either declined comment or could not be reached.

The New York-based client is now testing concepts presented by the four shops, with a cut to two finalists expected next, possibly as early as next week, said sources. That cut will be followed by further testing and a decision, sometime in October, sources said.

A Pfizer representative declined comment.

The drug maker launched the review in June, after five years with Merkley. Media duties, which are not in play, are handled by Aegis Group’s Carat in New York.
