141 Worldwide Names North American CEO

CHICAGO WPP Group’s 141 Worldwide has promoted Jay Farrell to CEO of its North America operations, a new position. He had previously been head of the Chicago office.

In the post, Farrell will report to global CEO Rick Roth and oversee the agency’s New York, Chicago, Toronto and North America satellite offices. He will be based in Chicago.

“Jay is a 23-year veteran in our industry, he has the experience and special talent in developing business and truly caring for our people,” Roth said in a statement. “He has an instinctive understanding of how consumers shop and how brands get activated, which has resulted in an extremely successful operation in Chicago and across North America.”

Business units reporting to Farrell will include field and event marketing unit 141 Boomerang, interactive unit 141 XM and sports and entertainment unit 141 Premiere. 141’s clients include American Express, Boeing, Kodak, Kraft, Motorola and Unilever.

In addition to Farrell’s promotion, the network is creating a new North American operating board. Rich Newman, president of 141’s New York office, is expected to have a leadership role on that board, according to the agency.
