BOSTON The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity on Wednesday named six semifinalists in the review for its $12 million ad account.

Looking to unseat the Chicago office of Omnicom Group’s BBDO, which is not defending, are Havas’ Euro RSCG Tatham; WPP Group’s J. Walter Thompson and Young & Rubicam; Interpublic Group’s Campbell Mithun; and independents Grant Jacoby and Hoffman York, according to Pile and Co., the consulting company overseeing the search. All of the contenders are pitching from their Chicago offices.
