72andSunny has followed a series of recent account wins by promoting Jenny Campbell to the role of managing director at its headquarters in Los Angeles.

She succeeds Chris Kay, who spent more than four years running the L.A. office and will now transition to a role leading unspecified international ventures. The agency, which also has offices in Brooklyn and Amsterdam, is currently on a hiring spree to staff its newest operation in Sydney, Australia.

Campbell joined the MDC Partners network last August to run HECHO EN 72, a production studio and “maker lab” launched last year in an effort to satisfy client demands for more small-scale, rapid turnover creative projects. In her seven months with that division, she’s credited with expanding its client roster to include Starbucks, Smirnoff and direct clients Flybrix and Murad while helping to produce campaigns for existing clients like Google.

She spent more than 12 years in account management roles within the Wieden + Kennedy organization in Amsterdam and Portland before taking a client-side role at Nike.

During her nearly eight-year tenure with the footwear giant, Campbell specialized in leading brand strategy across new digital platforms, most prominently the Nike+ activity tracker and related products like the FuelBand.

“At her core, Jenny is an innovator and builder,” said 72andSunny founder, creative co-chairman Glenn Cole. He added, “John [Boiler, co-founder] and I have worked with Jenny throughout the years, and we’ve seen first hand how her entrepreneurial drive, exceptional creative judgement and empowering management style can inspire people and game-changing work.”

In the new role, Campbell will help support the agency’s growth through both new business initiatives and management of its existing relationships with Activision, adidas, Carl’s Jr., Coors, Instagram, Google, Target and others.

Her promotion follows 72andSunny’s recent win in the eBay global creative review.
