Stock indices hit four-year highs Friday, thanks in large part to acquisition news and strong earnings by Hewlett-Packard Co. Oil prices continued to fall, easing fears that consumers might hold back spending during the holiday season. But some investors held concerns about long-term growth after mixed news on inflation and retail spending. Despite falling earlier in the week, the Dow closed up nearly 80 points Friday at 10,766.33, a 0.75 percent gain. The Nasdaq also finished at 2227.07,
