Signatures gathered so far on a petition to recall Al Lender, grandson of Lender’s Bagels founder Harry Lender, from his city council seat in Fountain City, Colo. Lender, 53, says some people in town hate him because he is opposed to rapid growth and has a 23-year-old conviction for selling cocaine. He claims that he recently found sliced bagels on his lawn bearing ominous messages like “Recall Bagel Boy” and “Burn Lender” and that his enemies also poisoned his dog.
