Number of pets—cats, dogs, birds, hamsters and gerbils, mostly—that Bill Fels says he used as his, ahem, guinea pigs in testing a new bottled water for animals, called PetRefresh, which goes for $1.49 a bottle. Fels says his water is healthier for pets because it doesn’t contain chlorine or fluoride, like a lot of tap water does. Those chemicals can hurt animals’ kidneys, urinary tracts and bones, Fels says. Tap water “also gives them bad breath, and causes hair loss,” Fels adds.
