We do love our anonymous tipsters. On Friday we got word of an obituary in WaPo. In three separate emails we received the following.
From the Washington Post obit of Sara Fritz that is a great counterpoint to all that you celebrate : American Journalism Review described Ms. Fritz as one of the “unsung heroes” of political reporting — rarely a schmoozer or schmoozee, never landing on trendy lists of star journalists, and seldom on the receiving end of calculated leaks by powerful people. Dear AnonymASS: Ouch! I feel like you just ripped off my skin. We appreciate you writing in about an “unsung hero” in political reporting in three separate emails in which you repeat yourself. But I’m really not sure why you feel the need to insult Politico‘s Mike Allen and myself in the process. To be honest with you, I was not asleep at any switch. I had the day off Friday and actually was not waiting on street corners to ambush unsuspecting minor Washington journos . I agree this is a nice thing to feature, but considering WaPo ran it, why not just celebrate that?
