DALLAS Five executives who changed the face of merchandising will be inducted into the newly created Retailing Hall of Fame Jan. 16 in New York, promoters said.

The first five inductees are the late Neiman Marcus chairman Stanley Marcus, the late founder of Wal-Mart Sam Walton, J.C. Penney chairman and CEO Allen Questrom, Barnes & Noble chairman Leonard Riggio and Crate & Barrel co-founder and CEO Gordon Segal.

Texas A&M University’s Center for Retailing Studies created the Hall of Fame.
