Good News for Newspapers
If the recent performance of newspaper websites is any indication, the once gloomy future of journalism is beginning to look a little brighter. According to the Newspaper Association of America, the websites of newspaper publishers attracted 20% more total visitors in September of 2011, compared to the same month in 2010. In a year-over-year comparison, average daily visits were up 21 percent; total pages viewed were up 10 percent; total minutes spent were up 11 percent; and unique visitors were up 9 percent.
NAA’s findings also show that in Q3 newspaper websites attracted an average monthly audience of 110.4
