BOSTON McCarthy Mambro Bertino has launched a radio effort for the Portland Pirates, a Portland, Maine-based minor-league affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Washington Capitals.

Ads from the independent shop in Boston launch this week in Maine and are intended to familiarize local fans with the team’s roster.

One 30-second commercial is set in a pet shop, where the proprietor has named every animal after a Pirates player. A second execution takes place in a local pub, where a rabid fan uses police tape to reserve a seat for Pirates “defenseman extraordinaire” Nolan Yonkman.
