Univision Sues Nielsen Over LPMs

Univision Communications last week said it filed a lawsuit in California against Nielsen Media Research’s planned July 8 rollout of its Local People Meter in Los Angeles. Univision alleges that Nielsen, owned by Adweek parent VNU, has engaged in unfair, unlawful and deceptive business practices by launching LPM in Los Angeles using flawed sampling and weighting methodologies. A Nielsen rep said the company does not comment on litigation. Nielsen launched LPM in New York on June 3 amid protests.
