Last year, the A&E network approached Southwest Airlines with an intriguing proposal. They wanted us to participate in a U.S. version of Airline, a successful program that has aired for seven seasons in the U.K.

Airline is a “real-life series” that, in the U.K. version, follows the staff and customers of EasyJet, a carrier that has been called “the Southwest of Great Britain.” EasyJet was asked for unlimited access to all phases of its operation: customers and employees at the ticket counter, at the gates, on the airplanes, and employee stories away from the airport.
