Gannett To Furlough Community Paper Staff
Gannett Co. will furlough its US Community Publishing (USCP) employees for five days in the first quarter of 2010. That’s to include non-union represented employees (including USCP president Bob Dickey) and possibly to include union-represented employees as well: however, Dickey writes in his memo to staff: “those union-represented employees who recently negotiated pay reductions in their contracts will not be furloughed.”
The USCP division includes Gannett’s more than 80 daily newspapers, but not USA Today; this is the same division that suffered a round
