Four agencies are competing to handle creative duties on Banana Republic’s estimated $20 million account: Omnicom’s TBWA\Chiat\ Day in New York, Publicis’ Leo Burnett in Chicago, and New York independents Laird + Partners and a/R Media, a client rep confirmed last week. The San Francisco-based retailer, a division of Gap Inc., hopes to select a shop by the end of the month. Burnett works for Gap corporate, and Laird creates ads for the Gap brand.
