In a bipartisan vote, the Republican-dominated House Appropriations Committee last week approved a measure to freeze the national TV-station ownership limit at 35 percent, despite opposition from the House’s Republican leadership and a threatened White House veto. The legislation would roll back the FCC’s June 2 decision to allow networks to own stations reaching 45 percent of TV households. A Senate committee has cleared a similar measure.
