High-End Retailer Puts Media in Play

CHICAGO Bang & Olufsen, the Danish high-end consumer electronics retailer, has launched a U.S. media review involving several undisclosed Midwest shops, sources said.

The company, whose American headquarters are located in Arlington Heights, Ill., wants to expand its market presence in America, sources said. Billings on the account were not disclosed.

Bang & Olufsen’s last-known campaign launched in mid-December 2002 via Kunde & Co., Copenhagen, Denmark, and its in-house marketing department. That effort supported the U.S. debut of the company’s newest electronic marvel, BeoVision 5, a plasma-screen home theater system with built-in stereo, which at the time retailed for $20,000.

The retailer’s executives could not be reached for comment.
