City Council Tries To Affect Change At Newspaper
From the Man-Bites-Dog Files: The Long Beach City Council is so disgusted with changes at the formerly local paper, that it considers pulling its ads as a message to the Long Beach Press-Telegram that it is accountable to its readers:
Vice Mayor Bonnie Lowenthal said an increasing number of stories in the newspaper are irrelevant to Long Beach readers and that the P-T often misses local stories because of its small reporting staff. She said politicians have a “love-hate” relationship with the press, but that Long Beach can’t do without its local paper.
