Zadie Smith Named Harper's New Books Columnist
Pretty exciting news for Zadie Smith fangirls (aka certain blog editors): The author will be writing Harper’s magazine monthly New Books column beginning with the March 2011 issue.
Smith is replacing Benjamin Moser, who will stay on with the magazine as a contributing editor, tackling “long-form criticism, particularly of the visual arts”.
Says Smith of her new role:
I think a good book review is a place to meet a book on its own terms, not as an ideological vehicle or an academic plaything.
