New York Times Opening Bureaus in Phoenix and Kansas City
Go west, young journalists — The New York Times plans on opening bureaus in Phoenix and Kansas City, according to a Friday report by Bloomberg:
The newspaper plans to name correspondents to the new offices by summer’s end, according to the memo, co-written by national editor Rick Berke and deputy national editor Adam Bryant. Times Co. spokesman Robert Christie confirmed the memo in an interview.
New York-based Times Co. closed its Kansas City bureau in 1992, Berke and Bryant said.
