Former Daily News Editor James G. Wieghart Dies at 76
James G. Wieghart, who devoted upwards of 60 years to journalism in various capacities at the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, The New York Daily News, and Central Michigan University’s Department of Journalism, died Sunday at the age of 76.
We learned the news via a press release at EON Monday evening.
By many accounts, Wieghart was the consummate hard-hitting newsman of the old school. He cut his teeth covering corruption and crime for the Journal-Sentinel for about a decade before joining the Daily News as a Washington correspondent in 1969.
