NEW YORK–Publicis Groupe’s gross revenue rose nearly 5 percent to $518 million for the first quarter, compared to the same time a year ago. Not accounting for acquisitions, the Paris-based holding company reported Tuesday that revenue declined 2.2 percent.

Billings reached $4.2 billion for the first quarter, a jump of 30 percent over Q1 2001 due in part to Publicis Groupe’s integration of Zenith Media.

Taking into account Publicis & Hal Riney’s $300 million Saturn account loss, Publicis Groupe units won about $117 million worth of new business in the first quarter.
