CHICAGO — Aegis Group-owned Carat, New York, has been chosen by Hyundai Motor Co. to handle the Korean automaker’s estimated $400 million Hyundai/Kia Motors America U.S. media account, sources said.

Hyundai dealers are expected to be told about the auto advertiser’s plans for media this weekend at the National Automotive Dealers Association convention in New Orleans.

Carat competed against independent Horizon Media, New York, in the final round.

Earlier, Mediaedge: CIA, New York, was cut from the contender list because of conflict hurdles stemming from WPP’s purchase of CIA parent Tempus Group and the merging of CIA and WPP’s Media Edge.
