CINCINNATI–Procter & Gamble Tuesday said it would sell its Comet abrasive cleanser brand to Bonita Springs, Fla.-based Prestige Brands International, for an undisclosed amount.

The deal includes the Comet global trademark and retail business in North America, though P&G will continue to market the brand in Central and Eastern Europe.

P&G has been more aggressive lately in selling or spinning off its weaker brands. Other recent sales include: Spic & Span and Cinch household products and Prell shampoo.
