The Martin Agency and McKinney & Silver are among a group of agencies invited to pitch the advertising account of Universal Studios.

All told, six agencies were briefed last week by Universal Studios executives searching for a shop to handlethe entertainment company’s estimated $30-40 million marketing business.

Client representative Jim Yeager identified the competing shops as Martin, Richmond, Va.; McKinney, Raleigh, N.C.; The Richards Group, Dallas; Deutsch, New York; Doner, Southfield, Mich.; and davidandgoliath, Los Angeles.

Media planning and buying, currently at DDB in Los Angeles, are unaffected by the review, according to sources.

The Universal business went into play two weeks ago [Adweek, July 23].
