NCR To Test Supermarket Technology

NCR Corp., formerly the National Cash Register Co., has selected Superquinn supermarkets of Ireland to test NCR systems for marketing, branding and loyalty programs, as well as self-scan and touch-screen checkout systems, in-store banking, training and currency conversion.

Dayton, Ohio-based NCR said it plans to invite retailers and other companies from around the world to visit and see the technology in action before it is introduced for sale.

“Retailers will now see a leading and comprehensive example of how technology can add real value to the business, not only by tackling issues such as customer loyalty and labor shortages, but also regulatory requirements such as euro conversion,” said Alberto Camuri, vice president of NCR’s Retail Solutions Division for Europe, Middle East, Africa, South Asia and Pacific.
