CONNECTICUT The Kotchen Group in West Hartford has named Barbara Carpenter senior associate and Julie Winnick account coordinator. Carpenter formerly held account executive posts with various public relations shops in New York. MASSACHUSETTS Holly Madden has joined Orsatti & Partners in Boston as associate creative director. Prior to joining the direct and database marketing firm, she had held senior creative posts with Arnold Communications' direct marketing unit, Ingalls and Bronnercom, all in Boston. Cone has tapped Patricia Hurley as vice president of its cause branding practice. For the past two years, Hurley served as associate creative director for Burson-Marsteller and as director of community relations for Barnes & Noble, both in New York. She previously worked at Cone from 1992-98 as both creative services director and director of strategic planning. In her new role at the Boston shop, she will lead several accounts, including Chevrolet and Home Depot. Boston-based Arnold Communications has promoted Jennifer Miller to account supervisor from account executive and Jennifer McGuiggin to associate producer from assistant producer. Danielle Gallagher has been advanced to art buyer, working mainly on Volkswagen and Titleist; she has been a junior art buyer at Arnold since 1997. In addition, Arnold has named Andrew Harris media supervisor, Christina Barlow assistant account executive, Craig Johnson copywriter and Emily Calvert junior art buyer. Harris, who most recently served as manager of media services at Kelley Habib John Integrated Marketing in Boston, will work primarily on Fleet Bank and Stop & Shop. Barlow, who was with Trinity Communications in Boston, will work on Fleet. Johnson previously worked at Greenberg Seronick O'Leary & Partners in Boston on campaigns for Etonic, Portfolio and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Arnold Direct has hired Carol Alda as an art buyer, working on clients such as the Food & Drug Administration and McDonald's. BBK Communications, Newton, has promoted Xenia Papoulias to senior account manager. She has worked on a variety of assignments at the healthcare specialists, including the Massachusetts Department of Public Health's Breast and Cervical Cancer Initiative and the Massachusetts Dental Society. In her new role, she will take on project management and supervisory tasks. Carat Freeman, Newton, has promoted Jane Deery to senior vice president, group media director in the agency's business-to-business group. She had been vice president and media director. In her new role, Deery will be responsible for accounts including Symantec, Flashcom, Sybase, Citrix and TrainingNet.com. Robert MacDonald has joined Red Brick Design, North Chelmsford, as creative director; Barbara Knight has come aboard as an account coordinator. Page Thompson has been advanced to senior vice president of marketing for General Cinema, Chestnut Hill. She had been vice president of marketing for the past three years.
