Chris Colbert, president of Holland Mark Advertising, may help run the region’s largest independent agency, but he still had a few things to learn about business.

Colbert recently completed the 20-month executive MBA program at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, to “expand my global perspective,” he said. Fond memories of keg parties, football games and fraternity initiations had nothing to do with his decision to go back to school.

The program, which employs distance learning because most students live far away from campus, consists of five terms.
